What Is The President's View On The Purpose Of Government?

Government is the political system by which a group of people are ruled. “If the people cannot trust their government to do the job for which it exists - to protect them and to promote their common welfare - all else is lost.” President Obama says that if one loses trust in their government, they lose everything because the government is what protects us and provides safety towards us citizens. I agree with the president’s views on the purpose of government because government provides everything for us citizens such as protection services, the government plays a key role in the economy, and allows citizens to participate in voting.
The government provides leadership, protection, and services for citizens. Government services provide safety and welfare in terms of Public safety, which includes services that protect people and keep them safe. Examples of public safety include law enforcement, firefighting, and emergency response. Public Welfare systems focus on improving people's lives such as education, health inspections, and public assistance. Government also protects the civil liberties and civil rights of citizens in terms of giving freedom of expression and religion, freedom of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and fair and equal treatment for all citizens under the law. …show more content…
