What is the power of journalism?
It is widely assumed that journalism is not just a rapid transfer of news, it is also a strong power of the nation which directs human’s thoughts and actions. Every day people become manipulated by mass media “manipulation is a strategy used to change the object presented. The aim of such changes is to influence the target audience, to make it believe something that might be true but is not” (Dukate, 2009). Today we cannot trust just one source as the facts are being confused by various media corporations. Nowadays media sources are divided into public and private. The first one are dependent on government bodies - their reliability is closely reviewed and monitored, the private one are famous for less credibility in society. The problem of exaltation of specific political parties by private television, newspapers or radio station has raised a lot of controversy from ages. Furthermore, some of the sources are aimed at promoting only Right Wing and some for Left Wing - This breaks the major rule of media – impartiality. Most of us still vote for the candidates suggested by the mass media, humanity stops to think, we follow what we have heard in the media. Most people agree that mass media lies, but they still watch the television, listen to the radio and read the morning newspapers, strongly believing in given news. Therefore, especially in political issues, we should compare at least two sources, would then get a real view of the prevailing situation. It is much easier to judge someone rather then acquit. Last, but not least is the issue of entertainment, The media conducive to a huge rivalry on the popularity of the brand. Every company wants to create the best advertisement, to then sell the product to a large circulation, as the journalism has a great power, the entrepreneurs want to use it in for their purposes also from the power of the media depends for example on which film we decide to go to the cinema by encouraging us
