BIOLOGY OF HEARING
The hearing is a quite a significant piece of creation used by humans. The complex organization of bones, hair, and cells it captures vibrated sound waves and processes to the brain. With everything happening almost instantly. But it's not as easy as it sounds. The sound is invisible vibrated particles through the air. The moving vibrations cause the air around to also vibrate creating sound waves that radiate outwards from the main source. The sound reaches the ear pinna to then send the vibrations down the ear canal and onto the eardrum. This creates vibrations on the Ossicles (malleus incus and stapes). The vibration triggers the ossicles to vibrate

The thought was as stated before that the air would scramble the vibrations. Styrofoam was also very cheap to get as it comes with almost all packages that are fragile. The box was also an air tight seal meaning that there was not much air can get in and/or out.
The blanket was chosen as the thought of when you have a blanket over your head it muffles the noise that is coming through. The blanket is a relatively cheap item and you can get one in every store.
The material hard foam was chosen as Styrofoam has shown, the air pockets can scramble the sound waves and vibrations, so, therefore, decreases sound. Hard foam is also cheap as it is just like Styrofoam in the sense that it comes with most packaging and boxes.

Making the boxes was easily the hardest task physically of this assignment. Each box was chosen for a different reason, for example, the hard foam box was the one that was thought to do the best, due to the air pockets and likeness to a yoga mat but much cheaper and easier to source. There was also the Blanket, this was kind of like a control except we lined it with blankets as they are easy and cheap, and knew that it would somewhat muffle the sound waves from escaping. Styrofoam was one that was thought to do well, this was also because of the air bubbles. The prediction was that the hard foam box would have done the best and I did with an average of 40 decibels at o centimetres, 39 at 50 centimetres and 38 at 100 centimetres compared to the others. Hard foam is the one that would be recommended to use to minimise the bagpipe noise issue that Fergus Would be having. With evidence, The hard foam meets the requirements of the scenario so that is why the hard foam has been chosen for Fergus to reduce his

One concept that stood out to me in the Technology theme is in the article called Shell Shorts by Amber Bravo it talks about learning the evolution of material and design of chairs. According to Amber Brown, Eames and Saarine made a plywood chair and started experimenting with molding the chair differently with curves and dimensions with the plywood ( Bravo par.2). They would construct and reconstruct the chairs mold with different dimensions, for example, 2D and 3D to see what style is more successful. As they have experimented with the different styles, in the article Bravo states that Eames and Saarine were influenced to enter in a “competition in 1940 had three-dimensional curves. For this they won first prize, but it was only produced in very limited numbers and not anywhere near to their desired quality” ( Bravo par 3).…

Acoustics is the branch of physics concerned with the study of sound. Sound is a wave made of vibrations in the air. Waves can be measured in a range of different ways: by their amplitude, wavelength, frequency, speed, and, at times, their phase. Sound information is transmitted by the amplitude and frequency of the vibrations, where the amplitude is experienced as loudness and frequency as pitch. The vibration is started by some mechanical movement and this causes a vibration on the molecules next to the mechanical event.…
