What Is The Most Memorable Moment In The Last Essay

Improved Essays
The summer of 2017 was a time that I will never forget, filled with fun adventures, friends, and away from occasionally overbearing parents. My most Notable moment from this summer was my school trip to Italy and Greece, more specifically the time that I climbed a mountain in the early hours in the morning with friends. I am not an active person, much less a morning person, I was not prepared for the laborious task of climbing a steep rocky mountain. In the end, that very moment in time was probably my favorite and most memorable moment from that past summer. It was a Monday, the morning began by waking up in my dingy hotel room, greeted by the toxic smell of paint and a rude awakening from one of my friends that I shared a room with. …show more content…
My first step outside was refreshing, the gross heat of summer was not to be seen anywhere, instead a soft Greek breeze hit my skin and blew through my hair. The peaceful town of Kalambaka was still sleeping and quiet as we made our way down to the mountains. A brisk stroll later and we arrived at our destination, there it was, it felt so intimidating up close. The mountains had a slight purple undertone from the moonlight casting over it, I was beginning to doubt if I could scale the entire thing in one day. My group headed towards the mountain with determination written in their features, the base of the mountain was a nice hilly path, nothing too serious. That was until I reached the steep portion, and let me tell you, it was a living nightmare to climb. The steps were made of marble like material and they were very slippery, I fell about five times a minute and and saw my life flash before my eyes five times a minute. At the midpoint I was a sweaty, panting mess, I had already went through my waterbottle like it was the last pure water on earth. By this time the sun had begun to rise between the mountains, the view from between the dense population of trees was absolutely magnificent. The rest of the party had barely broke a sweat as if they climb mountains every morning, the middle aged adults were beating me, that probably isn’t …show more content…
Sturdy enough to hold all of us for a group photo and a panoramic picture of the now bright and raging sun. I felt like I was on the top of the world, weightless even, The view was like no other the moss covered mountain side, the quaint but lively city, and the sunrise made my stomach churn with happiness and excitement. I had done it, I had climbed a mountain the process was hard and tiring but I did it, and it was so worth it. The monastery was closed due to the early hour but the view made up for it, even overshadowing it. We headed down after a long time of seeing and admiring, the trip back down was much easier. There were some shady paths that some of the members took that seemed to be risky and dangerous. We found a mountain turtle, not important to the story but it was a cute turtle. At this time the shops were opening and the restaurants and cafes were preparing to invite customers in. A nice breakfast buffet was laid out in the hotel and we dived in, I felt the pain for the rest of the

With more or less difficulty, the glory is attained by most of the climbers, who had no idea of what would come next. A storm that brings devastating chilly winds and blinding heavy snows, sweeps the mountain when all of them, except two, had initiated the descent. To pump up the anxiety, oxygen bottles are not available anymore and high-altitude pulmonary edema attacks mercilessly, leaving the most fragile freezingly motionless. The drama of the mountaineers’ wives is also a subject of Kormakur’s camera, which seeks the best vertiginous angles to provoke us a few shivers. All the same, “Everest” is more breathtaking than emotionally responsive, failing to mightily step onto the peak of the subgenre where it…

The Montrose Precipice I It all went back to the summer of 1932 when tragedy struck; its affect was wide-spread in the community, most of it at least. Little occurred in Montrose, Colorado, but what it lacked excitement, it made up for in character. Stories arose, those about the precipice, the ancient precipice, home to a demon, or so they say.…

In chapters 7 and 8 of The Blue Sweater, this was written by Jacqueline Novogratz, the one thing that captivated me was when Novogratz climbed Mount Nyiragongo. Novogratz mentions that before she left Africa, she went for an adventure on the tallest mountain which lay between in the Goma, a city in Rwanda, and Zaire. Novogratz and her Canadian friend (Charles) and their tour guide climbed Mount Nyiragongo. The mountain was one of central Africa’ tallest mountain, it shared border with Rwanda and Zaire. While they climbing and hardly surviving the grueling trails of the mount, only to realize that Novogratz had come to Africa similarly unprepared, without a road map, tools, sufficient gear, or protective layering.…

Imagine yourself standing on top of a mountain, feeling the breeze hit your face and flowing through your hair. Imagine yourself feeling the weight and burden of everything that’s ever happened to you suddenly disappear as you look across the mountain top, viewing the world from a much clearer sight than anything you’ve ever seen before. Imagine, just imagine, yourself knowing that you accomplished climbing a mountain all on your own, that everything you did in the past lead up to this very moment. Surely, this is how expert mountain climbers, Jon Krakauer and Erik Weihenmayer, felt when they finally reached the top of two very different, yet breath-taking mountains. Jon Krakauer, a solo man, takes a shot at an Alaskan mountain called The Devil’s Thumb.…
