I found the “Jane Eyre” extract the most tiresome to read, mainly because of a lack of context and the time-period language, while not as prevalent as Huckleberry Finn was still a small hindrance to my enjoyment of the piece, I find I would be much more invested if I were to read the complete text.

This speaks lengths about the social commentary the book makes. The boy’s slowly resort to violence after the stresses and tribulations of trying to survive in an undeveloped environment. This is more difficult because the boys are young and unexperienced with the world.
