Toni Morrison has currently only published one short story it is called “the Recitatif” (1983), which is French for Recitative and like the name of this short story, it is almost like the two main characters are played by one person. This story can easily change view points based on who is reading. Twyla is the narrator and main character of this short story. Roberta, the second main character, acts as a reality for the story as she knows the truth behind the events that occur in St. Bonaventure (St. Bonny’s).
