The Picture of Dorian Gray depicts the life of Dorian a young, impressionable aristocrat who captures Basil’s artistic imagination and soon becomes a friend to basil. Along with becoming Basil’s friend and muse Dorian meets the famous Lord Henry at one of the painting sessions. Lord Henry is a witty man who enjoys celebrating youth, beauty, and the selfish pursuit of pleasure. Basil reluctantly introduces Dorian to Lord Henry, who soon influences the young Dorian. This paper of The Picture of Dorian Gray will discuss three situations of how Dorian’s actions by being influences have affected his life. The three situations will range from the change of the portraits, to arriving late to dinner and the very last is the view of his name by others around him.

Dorian Gray is now thirty-eight and is no longer the young innocent boy although he looks have not change one bit. On his way home for one of Lord Henry’s party he runs into basil who he has not seen in awhile who is leaving london and wants to speak with dorian before he leaves. Basil wants to speak to him about all the rumors flying around london of how Dorian name has been dragged through the mud with various deeds with young woman and exploits of that not of a gentleman. Dorian interrupts Basil to rationalize the accusations of the rumors of his deeds by saying that every person he has encounter is responsible for their action and therefore all he has down was made them realize it he is not at fault for their downfall and the ones who talk are
