• Abilities/Skills When analyzing Benson’s behavior and how it contributed to the problems in the meson lab, it becomes evident that although both Benson and Wingnut’s had similar physic background, Benson had a higher ability to utilize his practical intelligence compared to Wignut and most people in the office. As the case unfolds, there is no solid evidence of Benson giving direct feedback on solving the projects. He only gave suggestions on how to run team meetings and revisiting a problem that the team chose to let go of. As Greenberg explains in the text, Benson did indeed possess mechanical engineering experience. This is why he was employed in Luxor laboratories. This gave Benson an upper hand because he had practical maneuvers on “running” the lab team, encouraging the underdog (Marilyn), and satisfying his boss and customers by being a social master which made him an excellent speaker during the presentation. Additionally, Benson actions showed that he was not only a confident individual, as one might argue, but was also very keen at effectively using his emotional intelligence especially at facilitating performance in the lab. If there is an employee-binding contract, Forsyth should evoke it. Moving Benson to a new project and looking for a new leader for the lab are nothing but temporary solutions which, as stated above, could repeat themselves. It appears that both are taking the easy way out, but avoidance is not a solution- the solution should be facing and tackling these problems as they appear. Additionally, it appears that both parties request training in leadership effectiveness; they both need to be accountable and proactive in accordance to their leadership
