Public Education is a widespread way of providing education to citizens of a country. The main features of such an education is that this is a relatively cheap to obtain such an education if compared to the private education. Furthermore, Public Education starts from primary schools to the Post Doc Schools. This increases the overall scope of Public Education. It is essential to note that education is basically the foundation of almost all great things, including the emergence of the United States; if the leaders were uneducated then, this country would not have been in such a great place in the world. Let’s look at the Act of Separate Car (1896) adopted in Louisiana. This essentially separated children on the basis of race in order to get an education. People can never get equal education if they are discriminated on the basis of race, gender, religion, etc. Similarly, there was another case of Brown vs. Board of Education, Topeka (1954), which had the similar race segregation, and thus hampered girls from getting a safe environment for getting education. These sort of incidents have hampered the equal opportunity to education in the past. Further, still as near as in 1978, we can observe the case of Bakke vs. The Regents of University of California; the case was essentially dealing that people who are less qualified get the chance to secure a seat because of a quota setting in the university. Thus, a qualified person would still be left out because he/she was part of the majority, due to a reverse discrimination. If we see the timeline, we can observe that till the start of the 80’s America faced the lack of equal opportunity for its citizens to get education. Things have changed significantly, but, not enough for a high level of education for everyone. The latest problem is the inability of College or Graduate School students to pay for their education. This can be done by increasing the percentage of money spent on Public Education. Another factor which can be looked into by the Federal and State Governments is that they can reduce the cost of getting a good education, surely they cannot affect the private institutions but, they can still reduce the cost of getting education in the Public Schools. Further, the Government can start schemes for affordable education for all the taxpayers. This will have two effects, the taxpayers will be able to save money to educate their children, and secondly, the taxation money can be used to reduce the costs of getting a good education. Finally when, it is ensured that everyone is getting an education then, research and development should be used to improve the standard of education for everyone equally. These solutions may seem utopic in nature but, I believe that they are achievable with diligence and hard work on everyone’s
