Looking only at the numbers of how many students come to school and how many students miss school does not tell you the how story. The objective is to learn why students miss school at high rates and how to help get them back into school. Taking a closer look at the individual student that is missing and trying to figure out what in their life is causing them to miss school is vital to the success of this research. Teachers and administration across the country are fighting the attendance battle with students of all ages. If we could shed some light on why students are missing class, and suggestions on how to handle it in a way that the student begins to attend more frequently, it could help schools with graduation rates and test schools almost immediately.
Research Questions and Hypothesis

As students reach high school, they often have more freedoms, it is not uncommon for students to begin driving and getting jobs, which can have an effect on attendance rates in schools. This is not a new problem, and I believe schools are trying to do whatever they can to improve attendance rates across the board.
Question: Does early intervention in the school year help reduce the number of students that are chronically truant?
Hypothesis: Early Intervention programs will have a small impact on improving daily attendance rates, but not large to warrant hiring more help and support
