What Is The Light In Children Of Men

The movie Children Of Men (2006) is a great example of using available light to film. Children of Men was directed by Alfonso Cuarón and the DP was Oscar-nominated Emmanuel Lubezki. Since this film was shot to look like one long continuous take it would have been difficult to have light set-ups for each of the many locations in this film. Lubezki didn’t use any professional lights to achieve these scenes which makes the film that much more amazing. The night scenes in the refugee camp are all lit by fires keeping the feel of the picture realistic and giving it an even more natural look.

The fact that this film has so many special effects and CGI makes the limited light an even more impressive thing they overcame. The low dull lighting
