In Prince Georges area in which the deRoux family lived there were two schools in which Aaron could attend, Buck Lodge middle school, or martin Luther king middle school. He went to MLK for his 7th and 8th grade years. While in middle school are on work as a volunteered with Maryland national park and planning commission. He volunteered at community centers in Riverdale, Beltsville and college park. Also during his middle school years Aaron continued to play soccer. While playing during his 7th grade, he suffered through two major loses in his life. First was the murder of a close family friend, Trevor Clark and the passing of his uncle Norman. He passed due a heat stroke in the spring. These blows took a toll on the boy causing him almost drop things that he loved such as art or sports. His friends and family where there to comfort, and push him to continue doing thing he loved. Going into 8th grade Aaron became more focused on his game and his grade. During his freshman year of high school he would struggle to balance out social life and sports. He realized that high school would be a whole new challenge. During the early months of his 9th grade year, Aaron feel with a bad crowed and his grades took a hit. The moment that changed his mind set to the right path was a simple discussion with his father. It was a normal car ride when the topic of school came up. The two began to argue, then his father said “I don’t believe that you will make it to college”. He took those word to heart, and the next day things changed from that point on. He had a change in heart and mind, playing football and joining the school track team, chess club and other after school activates. The 10th grade would pass without any problems. Coming into 11th grade problems had hit Aaron again with his mother and grandmother becoming very sick and he suffered from tears in his leg from a hard summer track season. Both of his parents became health within a couple month, but the injuries on his leg continued. So during the indoor track season of his junior. He rested and worked with the local boys & girls club in the area. He returned healthier for the outdoor track season helping his school make states, and the new balance
