In both stories there is paradox and irony, but the way the authors present these concepts are fairly different. The following essay will compare and contrast the paradox and irony for “Like the Sun” and “The Open Window”.
The irony in “Like the Sun” is dramatic irony since the main character doesn’t tell anyone that he is going to only tell the truth for a day. The irony in it is that people say to always tell the truth but when the character tells the truth it ends up with bad consequences. Compared to the irony in “The Open Window” the type of irony is different. “The Open Window” is situational irony since the combination of the main character (Mr. Nuttles) not liking dogs, the hunters having a dog, and the niece tricking
