The King and Duke are two con men in the society. They are blaming other people for their actions. The Duke and the king, saying that black people are untrustworthy. When the king and Duke discuss black people and the Dukes says “ first you know the nigger that does up the rooms will get an order to box these duds up and put 'em away; and do you reckon a nigger can run across money and not borrow some of it?"(Twain.179”. Basically, the King and Duke think all black men are thieves and this is an irony because they are the real thieves but they are intentionally blaming of others. They blame on black people because other people will believe them because this is before the pre-civil war and most people believe that black people are doing this type of crime. Jim is a runaway slave is training with Huck. The Huck sees the real conflict in the society when he sees the King and Duke making a false statement to fool others also corrupt society. The Huck watches the King and Duke Cheat and lies to hundreds of people for money. When the King and Duke cried over that dead tanner Huck says, “Well, if ever I struck anything like it, I’m a nigger. It was enough to make a body ashamed of the human race” (Twain.165). The people before pre-civil war slave owner see slaves as a profit and they turned them into property by putting money one them. When are Tom, Huck, and Jim escape through the hole they cut in the wall Tom get wounded? When doctor came to treat Tom, Miss Watson and the doctor extremely racist to Jim, when Miss Watson trying to sell Jim to doctor, Miss Watson says, “I liked the nigger for that; I tell you, gentlemen, a nigger like that is worth a thousand dollars—and kind treatment, too”(Twain.285). This shows that white slaves owner turned the slave into the property and it is very disrespectful to Jim because the doctor thinks he's worth at least $1000. Jim is still a human being like everyone and the doctor and Miss Watson is being rude to Jim. Selling Jim for money is not
