What Is The Independent Variable In A Paper Airplane

Decent Essays
An independent variable is something that u change in the experiment. I will be making 5 different types of paper airplanes and see how far they fly. As I change the independent variable it will influence of how far or short the flight is. My expected outcome of my experiment is the hammer because it has a heavy tip. On scenicebuddies.org it states that if the tip is heavier it fly’s farther. Yes there where another’s that have replicated this experiment, their outcomes where that the ones with a heavy tip fly farther, yes this supports my hypothesis. I will repeat my trials 3 times each airplane. My experiment applies to the real world by, if u r in class and you want to send a note to someone across the room you need to know which airplane

Cup 1 had 1 t-spoons of vinegar, cup 2 had 2 t-spoons, and last cup 3 had 3 t-spoons. These shells were weighed before we put them into the cups to see the mass of each one. My partners put each shell on the scale and measured it in grams. Through this process the end results were, the first shell weighing 1.15g, the second shell 2.26g and last the third shell 1.41g before we put them into the vinegar. The independent variable would be the amount of vinegar put into the saltwater.…

Whereas, testing a single independent variable is paramount when designing an experiment. Furthermore, when more than one independent variable is altered between test groups during an experiment, it will be impossible to know how these changes affect the measurements of the experiment. Also, any random influences on the experiment cannot be allowed, or the results of the experiment are considered unreliable. The design of an experiment must have a distinct, objective way to measure how the change to an independent variable affect the experiment. Also, it must be possible to determine how reliable the outcome of the results are, and this will be based on how well each variable is controlled.…

Here these substances are going to be orange juice, vinegar and water. Confounding Variables: Our constant variables are the pipe and six cotton balls used to make the choice chamber, the amount of each substance held inside the cotton balls, the size of the pipe and the amount of fruit flies placed within the choice chamber.…

When a scientist does an experiment in nature, it’s impossible for him to control everything that happens; hence the experiment is not one that is controlled. The independent variable is the different elevations in which he sets up the plots. He changed where each one was located. The dependent variable is how the trees and species migrated over time, as well as the effects on the wildlife and species in all thirteen of the plots. 9.…

Study #1 Article Title: It’s Not Just About Salivating Dogs! Author: Ivan Pavlov Date of Study: 1927 Hypothesis: Ivan Pavlov believed that if a dog was exposed to a specific stimulus while being fed, the dog’s brain would associate the stimulus with the food; due to this association, the stimulus alone would prompt the dogs to salivate. Variables: The independent variables, or the variables being manipulated and tested, are the various stimuli that Pavlov used to ingrain a response in the dogs: the ticking of metronome, footsteps, the scent of vanilla, a rotating object. The dependent variable, or the variable measured and tested, is the presence of salivation in response to a neutral stimulus after the dogs have been conditioned to associate the stimulus with food.…

The scientist’s want to see if certain sugars affect the amount of fermentation caused by yeast. The problem statement is; in which of these sugars, monosaccharides, disaccharides, or polysaccharides, will fermentation by yeast occur the best? The independent variable is the variables the scientists can control, so the scientists decided to use certain sugars, such as dextrose, maltose, and lactose being the IVs (Independent variables). The scientist’s Dependent Variable (DV) is the outcome of the experiment, in this case the dependent variable is the circumference of the balloon in centimeters. The scientists control would be the same balloons, same amount of sugar per gram, same amount of yeast per gram, same amount of time run for each…

Before letting the egg submerge in vinegar overnight the initial weight of the egg was 66.6 grams. We thought that after leaving the egg in vinegar the shell of the egg would get softer. The independent variable is the vinegar and the dependent variable is the egg. We believed that the egg would be softer; because we saw the vinegar bubble once we put the egg in it.…

An in depth comparison of the mean value and the standard deviation of each variable will be discussed in relation to a measure suitable for a longer flight time and a more accurate landing. These variables will be discussed relevant to the data and information gathered from our experiment during testing. The ratio of each helicopter will be discussed in order to replicate the appropriate wing length to base length ratio for the most successful design produced from the experiment. 16.1…
