i) Once branch shouldn’t have as much power to appoint other members of another branch. For example, the members of the judicial branch should be independent and pick members for their branch as they know the qualifications needed to be a member. Also, since the judges appointed in the Judicial branch of government have a lifetime job, they should have a straight head and not have anyone’s opinions overriding their thinking. ii) Branches should be independent and not intrude on other branches because of the varying salaries. This is an example of checks and balances. The “great security” that would combat this is giving the departments the necessary means so the members wouldn’t concentrate on the monetary value of the job. It’s in human nature to abuse power in order to get farther ahead in life so this great security would help ambition counteract other ambition. Madison said men are no angels and since they aren’t, government is required.
