The Importance of Searching for Knowledge in the Universe as Cosmically Insignificant Beings Hundreds or thousands of years ago humans did not know the vastness of our universe and its technological benefits; people thought the earth was flat and did not possess any idea of what lies past the sky. Space inquiry and eventually exploration technologically advance our world over millenniums. Also, the knowledge of existing on a nanoscale planet brought nations and cultures together to discover the answers to profound questions. As we discover more from our universe, what were once philosophical questions become physics. Most first world inhabitants would find it unbearable to live without a cellphone or computer; however, they do not realize that space exploration made those inventions possible. The camera chips in your cellphone were originally developed for photographing and monitoring space activity (Bladon, Lindberg Christensen, Rosenburg, Russo). The wireless internet nearly 98 percent of Americans have was made possible by the development of satellites for space information (Wyatt; Bladon, Lindberg Christensen, Rosenburg, Russo). The GPS (Global Positioning System) was also invented by utilizing these satellites (Bladon, Lindberg Christensen, Rosenburg, Russo). In addition, the technologies from space help all different types of people. Their ubiquitous beneficial discoveries include gas turbines, solar energy and the concept of time as well as esoteric ones such as cryogenics (Ruzic, Aitken).
