Railroad crossings can be extremely dangerous if not approached properly. You must pay attention and follow the correct rules in order to cross them safely. Railroad crossings are not a time to mess up or skip any steps. First, when approaching a railroad crossing you must be on the lookout for any incoming trains. Be sure to stop behind the designated line so that you do not get hit. It is extremely important that you do not try and race the train and get across the tracks first because the chance that you will actually make it across first is very small.
