Under no circumstances must this information be given out to other members of the public. This does not always mean files this can be personal information a service user has given to the carer in confidence. Any information like this or information the carer may know about the service user must not be discussed with friends or family in any form. This information has been given in privacy and the carer must respect this at all times. If the carer decides to give out any personal information this not only lead to prosecution this can have an effect on the service user who might feel embarrassed or vulnerable. This is not acceptable in any case. This is why there are values and principles, laws and regulations in place so this kind of behaviour is stopped.
The National Care Standards also have principles which are important in the care sector. These principles are “Dignity, Privacy, Choice, Safety, realising potential and equality and diversity”.
