Why are grades so important? Why do teachers and others feel grades are important? What are grades suppose to show or tell? Grades are often given to others to show their progress in a subject or skill. Grades are used in many other ways like grading someone 's personality, looks, performance,etc. There 's many reasons to be graded, but why do some feel it 's important? Everyone sees grades as a normal way to place others in a certain categories. They also show how one is exceeding or failing. But do teachers and others realize the effects on people being graded.Many people do not know that being graded can also affect people negatively. Graders think that give out grades is supposed to help people but that 's not always the case. Giving grades is not necessary , there are better ways to show how one is exceeding or failing. …show more content…
Illinois way of giving out progress charts is a great way of having an alternate grading scale. We should not have to make others feel like they 're not good enough because they did not get a certain mark. People should be excited and interested in learning new subjects and skills and also wanting to exceed in them. We should also learn to not judge others everyone is not the same ,we all can not learn at the same pace. People should not be graded on general areas because everyone is not perfect and needs improvement everywhere. We all should be taught specifics and graded on them.For example if one gets an C in English thats an overall grade a general are but what about the specifics. English has many objectives to learn there 's how to write sentence, how to read or pronounce words, many areas to learn. So how would we know how well a person is doing in a subject if we do not know a person 's strengths and weakness. We need reports on how a person is doing in each area. It 's time to change the way we
