An imperative scene from Harper Lee’s classic, To Kill a Mockingbird that should have been included in the movie is the scene in which Calpurnia takes Jem and Scout to her church. When Atticus goes out of town to participate in an emergency legislature, Jem and Scout are left to attend church with Calpurnia, as she doesn’t trust them at their own church by themselves. This is an important time for the readers because it introduces them to an entire new side of Maycomb county with different culture. Through Jem and Scout’s experience at the church, readers are provided with a preview of what is to come next. This scene also grants readers important knowledge about the quality of life for the negros in Maycomb county, such as their reading ability
