What is the Holy Spirit? Holy Spirit is viewed as mysterious even to Christians who sought after it. The two major questions people ask about Holy Spirit is: “What is Holy Spirit?” and “Why Holy Spirit is important in our lives?”. The obvious place to look for what the Spirit is the Bible. God provides many information about the Spirit and we simply need to look for it. Bible guarantees that Holy Spirit is part of Trinity of God and why it is important. Holy Spirit is the proof of the covenant that binds the God and his people. This covenant is even mentioned in the Old Testament. For example, The Book of Judges mentions many Judges empowered by the Holy Spirit. Many Judges such as Othniel (Judges 3:10), Gideon (Judges 6:34), Jephthah (Judges 11:29), and Sampson (Judges 13:25, 14:6, 14:19, 15:14, 16:25) are viewed as great example of Holy Spirit as seal of covenant. God sent Sprit to empower Judges of Israel to deliver them from the oppressors. The Spirit was used as to proof of God’s promise to deliver Israelites many times. (NIV Korean-English Study Bible, Holy Spirit is important because it acts as a promise God had made with his people. Isaiah 59:21 says, “Isaiah 59:21 “As for Me, this is My covenant with them," says the LORD: "My Spirit which is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your offspring, nor from the mouth of your offspring 's offspring," says the LORD, "from now and forever.” In…
