Foundation of Mythology 2Today when you hear the myth, some may think of traditional legendary stories. When most people use the term “It’s a myth” they are referring to story with no evidence. In contrast, the word myth in academic context is used as follows; “Myths are ancient narratives that attempt to answer the enduring and fundamental human questions such as: How did the universe and world come to be? They believed Brahma came from nothing, by thought he created water where his semen was in and that grew into a golden egg. When he was born, by thought again, the halves became earth and heaven. The Bible’s story of creation is different but it talks about a superior being from the beginning. The Bible says god created the universe and human beings in 7 days. Some people may all other culture’s stories strange or funny because it is not their belief. All these myths are bizarre when compared and observed from a greater perspective. Myths among different cultures around the world address similar or universal themes because they give answers to similar questions we all have as humans. Myths introduce cultural values and allow us to learn about others cultures. Myths also explain the unknown and the tribulation of mankind because it is human nature to ask questions instead of just accepting answers blindly. People always want to know why things are the way they are. In the ancient days people relied on mythsto answer questions because we not have the technology and scientific knowledge that we have today.The relationship between believe, knowledge, mythology, and religion are close and can overlap each other. Knowledge is learned and acquired and belief is believing something to be true. Knowledge and belief intertwine because if we know something is true then we must believe it. However, just because we know something does not make it true. If one is doubting something they know then they do not truly believe in it. Myths can be a subset of religion. Religion is a practice and a belief of a higher being in the form of god. Myths try to prove the faiths put forward by religions through stories. Myths and religion work hand in hand. Myths usually tells stories about the superhuman powers
