A theme in Lord of the Flies is that humans nature has savage instincts. William Golding shows this throughout the story when the boys turn completely savage at the end of the book. Jack, as their leader, institutionalized this savage standard. For instance, he breaks away from Ralph and convinces boys to come with him, “I’m going off by myself. He can catch his own pigs. Anyone who wants to hunt when I do can come too.” The power given to him by being the leader allows him to influence the other boys into savagery. Jack is also supposed to resemble a Hitler-like figure. So, obviously in World War II Hitler was a corrupt leader. Such as, he forced specific groups of people into small spaces of large cities to live in. They were crammed in 12-15 people a room, just because Hitler and his followers targeted them. These both show how a person having too much power can ruin their society and
