Have you ever wondered why there are people in the world that challenge the rules and go against them? The reason why people do that is is that they want to change something around them that they do not like. Also, people will do, anything in there power to show people that what they believe is right. In the novel Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury uses the character of Montag, figurative language, and a distrustful tone to reinforce the theme that people should challenge the rules if they believe it will better society. Personification is when a non-human object is portrayed in a way that makes us feel that they have the ability to act like human beings. Bradbury uses personification on page 18 stating,”Titles glittered their golden eyes, falling, gone.” This quote is an example of personification because the book is given golden eyes, that transforms the books into human entities. This use of language helps convey the theme of Fahrenheit 451, because if books were human or even if they could talk they would say how wrong it is and how they should not be completing the actions that they certainly are. Books provide so many different people with information, they help people relax, they even help people find themselves. But then we have people like the ones in this story that are all just following what they're told to do, even if they wanted to stand up for themselves some of them would not be able to because they would be afraid of failure and not being like anyone else. But is being like everyone else really make someone unique? Honestly, it does not. The things that make people unique is the things they do in order to make a change to the world they live in, or even just themselves.
