To Kill a Mockingbird Essay It is not surprising to most Americans that they have had a discriminatory past. It does not matter when in America’s history, there always seems to be some form of discrimination. It seems like since the dawn of time, whites have discriminated against all other races simply because they are white and other races are not. Racism in the United States of America has existed since the first settlers moved there from Europe in the 1500s. Racism still exists in modern America as of 2016, 500 years later. In the 1930s, there were a series of trials known as the Scottsboro Trials where 9 young black men were convicted of raping two women.
