The 2013 adaption of F. Scott Fitzgerald's iconic book The Great Gatsby and Woody Allen’s 2011 homage in A Midnight in Paris both were very effective in their representations of the book. They were however, effective in different ways. Baz Luhrmann chose excellent actors that played the parts very well and chose the most important scenes of the book to be depicted in the movie. Woody Allen’s homage had characters that parallel those in the book.
In the movie The Great Gatsby, Leonardo DiCaprio plays the role of Gatsby. His natural charm and charisma made him the perfect person to portray Gatsby in the film.
