What Is The Difference Between Inside Out And Back Again

Inside Out & Back Again Bullying is a big problem to refugees and immigrants. Most people or kids bully their peers because they are a different race or they look different. The story Inside Out & Back Again by Thanhha Lai is a good example of bullying to peers. What helps kids and adults is to find a trustworthy friend that can help them through this tough experience to their ¨new normal.¨ Ha and other refugees have a difficult time fitting in when they first come to a new country, but what helps them is finding a trustworthy friend. In the poem Loud outside,¨A pink boy with white hair on his head and white eyebrows and white eyelashes pulls my arm hair.¨(Lai 145) He has never seen Ha before and she has never seen someone who looks like ping boy. In the poem Someone Knows, ¨I eat candy in the toilet.¨(Lai 180) This shows that she doesn't go in the lunchroom because she is afraid she will get bullied. Another example; ¨By the end of school he yells an answer: She should be a pancake. She has a pancake face.¨ shows that he was making fun of Ha because she was a different culture and her facial features.
