An example is Joyce, a unusual character in the Suburban, who displays values which revolves around manipulating other people to not value the protagonist. Joyce becomes a catalyst for change and decides to go after revenge. She says “All along in my gut i felt there was something wrong with him [Edward].” This shows that Joyce tried to persuade the others in Suburbiaan that Edward was an outcast and did not belong in their community.
