Teens getting their licences is a huge weight lift off of their parents shoulders, but it is quickly followed by stress. The article states that, “Sixteen-year-old drivers are more likely to be involved in an accident than any other age group” (“Teen Drivers” par 5). This is because it takes time to get good at driving, just like anything else. As time goes on the new drivers begin to get a feel for the road and know how to drive safely. Though that’s no excuse since adding a son or daughter to an adult’s insurance plan costs an arm and a leg.

No kid wants to kill themselves driving, but then again most teens believe they are invincible. There are a lot of factors that distract people while they are driving, like cell phones, animals, music, other drivers, friends, etc.., and those factors increasingly affect teen drivers. The joy of getting a license is unlike any other. The freedom of being able to go where and when whenever! Insurance agencies love new drivers because of their cost to insure. Parents are relieved because they can finally take a break after sixteen years of chauffeuring, but now worry about their child not becoming just another statistic in one of the many articles about teen driving.
