As the upcoming school year approaches, many parents are faced with the burden of buying each individual child the necessary school supplies. Families that have to buy back to school supplies for one child can get expensive enough, but when families have more than one child, the cost of supplies and backpacks can add up, and be overwhelming. School supplies are a must have. Every student is required to bring a certain amount of notebooks or have different art supplies, and of course a backpack is needed to hold all of the supplies, when in reality, not everyone has the money to spend that much on school supplies. That money could go towards dinner or clothes that are needed.

Some of the ways people are contributing are through donating school supplies. A majority of children do not use all of their school supplies and they end up catching dust on a shelf. I always had extra supplies growing up and my mom would donate them to teachers incase other students did not have enough. For my project I had many of my fellow classmates graciously donate extra packs of paper, pencils, crayons, binders, and even backpacks. The luxury of getting a brand new backpack that fits the current trend is not a luxury that every student gets. Since kids do not tear up backpacks to where the cannot be reused in a year, parents could donate those backpacks to families in need. Another way help students in need to do donate supplies and clothes to local churches or organizations that are holding a school supply drive. My church recently held a school supply drive for the upcoming school year and it was a success. Many families in our local communities that may not have been able to provide the necessary supplies for their children were able. Small donations that may not seem a lot to the average person could be something very special for
