Perhaps it’s not just the Sky people ‘seeing’ the Navi but also the Na’vi not seeing the sky people. The film doesn’t include a peaceful discussion between parties, and this causes ignorance as to what the other values. Neytiri see’s Jake’s ignorance, directly stating Jake is “ignorant like a child”. Only when Jake “[tries] to understand [their] deep connection]” to the land does he really choose whose morals he sides with - until then, he is ignorant to what they value, as seen when he earlier “[thanks] [Neytiri] for killing [the wild dogs]”. When races are ignorant to other cultures values, unneeded conflict emerges.…

In the novel Dark River by Louis Owens, ethnicity, gender roles, and the idea of history and the past are prominently shown throughout this novel. Owens use of both symbolism and imagery in this novel can be considered remarkable. His use of words actually can make one think they’re in the novel and experiencing everything Jake is. 1 Communication changes us in many ways, it helps us resolve conflict, state our opinion, and it helps with our mental health. The way it helps us resolve conflict is by allowing us to openly talk about the issues we have with whoever/whatever is causing the conflict to occur, this allows us to find a way to resolve the issue and move forward. By stating our opinion, we can give others ideas on a task at hand, or just being openly creative. The way it helps with out mental health is it lets us discuss our problems, it’s never good to keep emotions bottled up inside, if we do it can have a huge impact on our mental state.
