What Is The Collaborative-Independent Model?

I agree that this case is a difficult one because of the many factors involved. Between moving, the death of her parents, going to a new school, learning English, and the pregnancy, she has a lot on her plate and is going to need some help. With this in mind, I agree that the Collaborative-Independent model would be best because it allows every member to have an equal voice and work together. Maria working with other teen mothers and/or parents at the school would be a built-in resource because they can learn through each other’s experiences and help each other cope. Also, they could possibly continue the support after they graduate which could help Maria make friends at the school who could help provide the family/friend support she might not receive …show more content…
This relationship could also be beneficial to the others for the same reason as well. It could be difficult to maintain relationships with peers and families during teen pregnancy due to biases, beliefs, and etc. Also, the support group would also be useful because they could help other find other resources and provide assistance with the application process. I do believe it is key to have a bilingual faculty member or even a bilingual student to help include Maria in the support progress. Also, I believe some factors of Maria’s case could shadow over the others such as the pregnancy leading to the grief over the loss of her parents being ignored. Therefore, it would be important to possibly prioritize the factors so that Maria gets the assistance she needs at best times
