The Holocaust was the persecution of about six million Jewish people by the German Nazis during the years 1933 to 1945. After World War I, Germany was going through hard times with their economy and industry. When Hitler rose to power, he brought down the democracy, and he manipulated Germans into believing that the Jews caused Germany’s problem. He called them a threat to the government. Hitler decided to send away Jewish people, gypsies, handicapped individuals, and mentally ill people in concentration camps.
