After his brother's death, Scar ruled the Pride Lands for several years. During his reign, Scar denounced the laws Mufasa made to regulate the hunting parties and caused the Pridelanders to run out of food. As the kingdom began to fall into peril, a fully grown Simba emerges from obscurity. Once Simba discovers Scar was responsible for his father's death, the prince orders him to step down. However, Scar refused to back down and the pair engage in a fierce battle. Near the climax of their confrontation, the prince managed to knock his uncle of the ledge of Pride Rock. After falling several feet to the ground, Scar loses his life and is eaten by a pack of Hyenas.
