Good evening boys and girls of our church youth group. Many of you will recognize me as Caroline Baard; one of the youth pastors at this church. I am honored to have been asked to discuss the Book of 1 Peter with you tonight, a book which closely looks at Christians being mocked for their faith. One of many struggles I am sure each of you can relate to tonight at school? The purpose of this in-depth look at the Book of 1 Peter is simply to give you all Godly encouragement in your struggles against your faith and religion in many areas such as school and home.

Does anyone know who wrote the Book of 1 Peter? Well, we cannot give an exact answer to this question as there are many theories as to who the author might have been. Some believe

We must be encouraged to persevere in our faith and in life. This means we need to live Godly lives; proclaiming God’s word to our friends, honoring our mothers and fathers, living as good citizens and remaining pure until marriage, just to name a few. Now let’s go through the key themes found in 1 Peter;
1. The Epistles: certain books of the Bible can be referred to as an “Epistle”; thus simply meaning that it was letters written to various churches or individuals. For example, 1 Peter mentions that it was Peter’s letter written down by Silvanus.(1 Peter 5:12).
2. Holiness: holiness can also be described as overall “perfection”. As God is completely absent from any form of sin, He is therefore seen as high above any other and the absolute Holy one. In 1 Peter 1:13-16, the author discusses being Holy as God is Holy.
3. Hope: hope is essential to us as Christians, we must speak out about our hope without shame of condemnation. As believers, we are called to answer for that hope that is within us to any who may ask (1 Peter

    The Bible tells us to be perfect as our Heavenly Father is perfect, Matthew 5:48. On the other hand Romans 3:23 reminds us that man falls short of the glory of God. While only God is holy and separated from all evil, we as humans are created with a conscience which allows us to distinguish right from wrong. Additionally, we are given a set of commandments to guide us through our decisions. Although we cannot ever attain perfection, Jesus reminds us throughout scripture that as we seek to know God our flesh becomes one with His word.…

    We need to place our trust and love solely into him, and our family, partnerships, and friendships will then fall into order. We should not value what we see in shopping centers, and we should never idealize who we see on the television. Every growing day, makes it harder to stand true to these standards of living. As I have read in an article, “it is our privilege and responsibility to invite others, who are not yet believers, to faith in Christ and service to him.” We need to do better at expanding the words to others.…
