The Better Side of Me.
What have I done that extraordinary? Nothing that I can think of, but I ‘m sure there must be something. I have always gone to work, went to school over the years and spent a lot of time with my family. After watching other families around me and in our declining society in general, I feel that the time I have spent building and supporting my family is above what seems to be ordinary.
I married at 20 years old, to a fine young lady of 19. We weren’t high school sweethearts, as a matter of fact she didn’t even like me in high school, she thought I was a jerk, which I’m sure I was. For some unknown reason after high school, she saw the better side of me. Shortly after we were married, like two dumb kids, we had our first

She has taken a hard road. Shortly out of high school she married a good natured young man. Myself and her mother were not on board because although he was nice and friendly and said the right things, we could see right through him. I hate when I’m right but as much as I would like to, I can’t control other people. He has a problem with the truth and after a few years she was ready for a divorce. So, I paid for that. Out of that fiasco came two of the most precious little girls you could ever have. The youngest one is only six months old and will not have any concept of who her father is because he can barely make his visitation every other week. The oldest one is three and a half and she shares her birthday with me. She knows who her dad is but even at her young age, she doesn’t miss him or even ask about him because he has never had any influence on her. But, she does have a father figure, that’s me. Since the day she was born, I have held her, fed her, changed her, played with her, read, played and taught her everything she needs to learn from a male influence. I keep her with me on my day off and almost every morning when she wakes up she is calling for Grandpa. Occasionally she calls for her mother too, so don’t get the idea that mom’s not available. Actually, Mom is doing a damn fine job. Every night after Mom is done with the bedtime routine she’s asking for Grandpa to come tuck her in. We tell “one sentence stories” and talk about our day and what we might be able to do on the weekend. I will raise these little girls their entire life. My daughter has a job she loves with a great little family company and the new guy seems to be ok as

Though I knew most of what she told me it was still nice to just sit and talk about her life experiences. My mother was born to older parents and was the youngest of three children.…
