The debate on gun control has been going on for a quite some time now in america. Some people believe that we should have gun control, while others believe that we should stop gun violence with more guns that can cause unnecessary violence. Although many people feel that guns should be allowed with us for safety, more guns out there can lead to more crimes involving guns ending up in wrong hands. There have been many incidents and shootings that have rekindled the gun control argument. An example of an incident is that on Feb. 29, 2016 in Madison, Ohio a high school student injured two other students with a .380 caliber handgun. This proves that having stricter gun laws work to reduce gun crimes. The U.S. should have mandatory criminal background checks and mental evaluations required for anyone who wants to buy a gun, make it harder to buy a gun, and should make sure that they close all the loopholes for people to get away with buying a gun without getting checked. "We know we can 't stop every act of violence, every act of evil in the world. But maybe we could try to stop one act of evil, one act of violence," (Obama) in his speech about gun violence obama also said “I believe in the Second Amendment, there written on paper, that guarantees the right to bear arms, No matter how many times people try to twist my words around, I taught constitutional law. I know a little bit about this. But I also believe that we can find ways to reduce gun violence consistent with the Second Amendment." So for all the people who didn’t listen to obama when he said this, such as Paul Ryan, need to realize that he is not trying to take the 2nd amendment away from the citizens.
