Gatsby the American F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel The Great Gatsby was a novel he wrote in the 1920’s during World War 1. The novel talks about a boy named Nick who moved from east egg to west egg, so he could learn how the bond business works. When Nick moved to west egg he figured out that his neighbor was Jay Gatsby. The Great Gatsby did a very good job of showing how reality is for all people from low to high-class people. This will show how the American Dream is not always be good for people. The American Dream was a way to tell human beings that they should always feel happiness, wealth, and to be loved by the people he or she loves. A character in the novel that I felt represents this was Daisy. Class and wealth have something to do with how Gatsby cannot get Daisy. Because Gatsby didn’t want to leave the low class even though he could be a high-class person if he wants. When Gatsby decided not to become high class and be with Daisy he didn’t accomplish the American Dream. The Great Gatsby was trying to show how there were many different choices. For example how Nick went the safe route home after leaving the bond business instead of going after the American Dream. On the other hand Mr. Tom Buchanan’s dream was not accomplished either. If his American Dream were accomplished, Tom would not have a mistress. The American Dream will not be accomplished just because you are rich or are high class. Nick did have an advantage of choosing the path he chose because he did get some experience, but it was still hard to decide what to do. He had to decide from becoming rich or going back with his parents. Nick Carraway did choose the right decision after experiencing what it takes to become
