Some people think that the age of responsibility is 18, because that is when you legally become an adult. Others think that the age of responsibility is 21, because that is the legal age to drink, and that’s when most people are getting their lives figured out. But is there really a set age of responsibility? And when should a person be considered responsible? I don’t think there is a set age of responsibility because I know people who still live with their parents who are in their 20’s, almost 30’s, and I know many 18 year olds who are going to school, have a job, and their own apartment. So, I believe that a person becomes responsible over time, and that time is not the same for everyone.
One major responsibility that all 21 year olds know, is to drink responsibly. Many people have different views on when the drinking age should be. I think that that lowering the drinking age wouldn’t be such a bad thing. For example, in Greenblatt’s article, “What is the Age of Responsibility?”, he says “For example, the presidents of 135 universities are campaigning to consider lowering the drinking age from 21.
