The civil war was not just about fighting on the battlefield. There was a heavy political shadow the always stood behind the war. The shadow was swayed by the people and the emotions they felt. Leaders were able to utilize these emotions by crafting their words into a verbal masterpiece which influenced the masses. In the civil war, there were three major political views that almost every American could be sorted under. There was the Abolitionist viewpoint, the “slavery is morally wrong” viewpoint and the proslavery viewpoint. Along with these viewpoints, there was a leader behind them.
