Target like many major corporations can be considered a multinational corporation (Chapter 11). currently has 1834 stores in the U.S. with 39 distribution centers and employees 323,000 people worldwide (Target). In addition, they also have global locations in India and a thriving online retail site, Target.com. Much of their current global success can be attributed to current CEO Brian Cornell who joined Target in August, 2014 (Target). The company currently outsources 30 percent of its engineering department. One way that they through this is through promoting recycling. That alone creates sustainability through reuse of materials such as packaging. According to their website in 2013, they became members of the Howtorecycle label program, this ensures that consumers have clear recycling instructions on the labels (Target). They have also promoted the use of reusable bags instead of paper or plastic. In addition they have set goals for 100% sustainable cotton by 2022’ as well as to sell sustainable seafood. These goals and many of their others reveal their commitment to CSR. If all businesses operated this way the world would be better
