Summary: We Need More Gun Control Laws

John Donohue stated from his recent study, “more guns would equal more crime,” where he found the right-to-carry laws have increased eight percent and firearms have increased thirty-three percent in aggravated assaults.

They have closed a loophole that allowed people to buy guns at gun shows without having to have a background check. Background checks let dealers know if a buyer has committed a crime that would make it illegal for that buyer to own a gun.
Although a recent online poll showed 54 to 70 percent of people support having stricter gun control laws. Although, men are less likely to vote for stricter gun control laws over women, due to the fact that men tend to not me on social media as much as women. They also found that the higher level of education a person has the more they want stricter gun control laws. Although, people with a higher income tended to vote against stricter gun laws by ten percent.
People that are for more gun control laws don’t want to take away guns, they would like more laws enforced. Such as, a law requiring a first-time gun buyer to take a gun safety course, a law involving trigger locks on guns, a law requiring gun owners to lock up all guns and ammunition. They would also like to raise the minimum age on purchasing and owning a gun, banned companies from selling guns to people over eighteen that have committed a crime, and/or have every gun owner have a gun license and have his or her own gun
