Why is stormwater pollution a problem and what can YOU do to prevent it?
Stormwater is water that surfaces in a large quantity that results from heavy rain. Storm water runoff gathers and conveys litters, animal wastes,dirt and other pollutants as it flows.Storm water pollution is one of the biggest problems in the world today and many animals die or are harmed from it. The polluted stormwater deteriorates our waterways, like rivers , lakes or ponds. There are many reasons this can harm our environment. Nutrients, for example: phosphorus and nitrogen can cause over growing of algae which results in oxygen exhaustion in the waterways.
