The first novel was called To Kill a Mockingbird, written by Harper Lee. To summarize the majority of the story, we - as the reader - follow Scout Finch over a two-year journey on discovering some very interesting things about the world and how it functions from her “elderly” father, Atticus Finch. One of the things she learned from her father was that it’s not always okay to think like everyone thinks. For example, one of the black men in Maycomb County - Tom Robinson - was accused of raping a white woman - Ms. Mayella Ewell. Scout’s father - Atticus - was “appointed... to defend him” in court (p. 218).
