It is easy to ignore community involvement especially in a community that sometimes forgets about your school. The saying no news is good news isn’t always accurate. No news sometimes means there is a disconnect between your school and the community funding it. Resources are being wasted when you ignore the community and the community ignores you. I would make sure to invite the community member into our schools and to function throughout the school year. Also, I would use services in my community, such as, the United Way, to direct students towards resources our school may not be able to provide.
