Reconstruction is known as the period after the American civil war. Many people say it was a really revolutionary moment in American history. The truth is that it was not revolutionary, but a failure. Many factors contributed for its failure. This period was supposed to help black Americans become equal citizens. Because of the resistance of the groups in the south, it did not happen. KKK and other white supremacy groups intimidated slaves. The government ignored the fact that slaves were freed and the racism continued. KKK also intimidated republicans. That is why the Democratic party raised in the south.
