Has racism really left the country since the amendments from the Civil War? Have people really changed enough to rid the United States, or other countries, of any form of racism, or have the cases of racism increased? Racism is “the belief that characteristics and abilities can be attributed to people simply on the basis of their race and that some racial groups are superior to others” (“Racism” 1). Although most people feel that racism has decreased over the years, it is clear that racism has not decreased, and may have even increased over time. There are African American churches, where very seldom does a white person ever attend. In the same manner, there are white churches where very seldom do African Americans ever attend. This may be because they don’t like the idea, or it may be because there church family does not make them feel home.
Racism has been used to encourage fear and hatred (“Racism” 1). There are many people that are seen that ‘claim their heritage.’ They feel that racism and slavery should still be around. Usually, these are the people whose families were raised at a time when they could have slaves on the farm. These people pass down their racism from one generation to the next.
Even though people claim this, it has been proven that a human’s heirloom can all be traced back to one place: Africa. This knowledge shows that race was invented (“Racism in” 3). This is said because if a human’s genome can be traced to Africa, then all people are from the same descent. Race was a tag started to help a person describe another person. In Asia, there have been strong discriminatory actions toward Vietnamese within Cambodia. In Malaysia, laws were passed to limit education given to people who were Malaysians only because they were born there (“Racism”
