A few years back, PuertoRico used to be an agricultural island that could sustain its people and economy with ease, But many things have changed since those times. The island has almost ceased completely all of the agricultural activity that once sustained it. Now, instead of producing, Puerto Rico is depending on other countries. Puerto Rico is now importing products from other countries to facilitate the job of feeding an ever growing population. It is much quicker and easier to import goods from other countries than motivating native Puerto Ricans to cultivate food on their own fertile soil. As of now, Puerto Rico produces only a 10% of what they consume. Incredibly enough, that 10% only includes two items; coffee and milk.
