Throughout the Odyssey and the poem “Penelope”, Penelope’s attitude towards Odysseus is different. In the Odyssey, everyone is recognizing Odysseus’ victories, but doesn't even bother to look at Penelope. In the poem “Penelope”, she is standing up for herself and saying she showed just as much bravery as Odysseus. The main thing that separates them is that Odysseus’ bravery was more celebrated than Penelope’s. Odysseus’ bravery in battle is obvious; Penelope showed equal or more bravery in her own way. Although Odysseus sailed the dangerous seas, tackling every obstacle that came his way, Penelope showed her bravery by fighting off the suitors.
